Just Pastor Ray being Pastor Ray….

So Ray Lewis couldn’t help himself yesterday on ESPN.  Had to talk about Aaron Hernandez being charged with murder and how the Patriots had to “know something.”  Hey Ray did the Ravens know “something” about what you were going to do?  I want to know something Ray, where the hell is that white suit you were wearing when those guys got stabbed to death?  Can you fill me on that one you self righteous, pompus, POS?

Sons of Franky Cabot PSA: Don’t do Molly…. M’Kay?

It has been used as a popular drug at raves and electronic-music festivals for years, but recently deadly overdoses and a spike in pop-culture references have law enforcement, colleges and concerned parents talking about the drug known as Molly.

Called a pure form of ecstasy, the psychedelic drug MDMA gives a sense of euphoria, eases anxiety and increases a bonding feeling toward others, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

In the last week alone, overdoses of Molly, slang for MDMA, are believed to have killed Brittany Flannigan, a 19-year-old Derry, N.H., resident, at the House of Blues in Boston and Olivia Rotondo, 20, a University of New Hampshire student at a music festival in New York.

Jeffrey Russ, 23, of Rochester, N.Y., died at the New York event, the Electric Zoo Music Festival. Two others also seriously overdosed at the House of Blues, and four others at the New York festival.

Three other concert-goers also suffered drug overdoses at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston on Saturday, with police believing two were related to an ecstasy-type drug. And in Brockton, three Maine men reportedly were arrested on charges they had in their possession about 16 grams of MDMA.

Look, Mr. Mackey is right. Drugs are bad…. M’Kay. This isn’t news. Continue reading

Charlie Bronson esque store clerk

Bad idea: holding up a store clerk who happens to be proficient in firearms.

Worse idea: holding up a store clerk who is not only proficient in firearms, but who also happens to be an Iraq war veteran and a former prison guard and private investigator.

Jon Lewis Alexander, 54, is no ordinary store clerk. He has worked several “high risk” jobs and served four tours of duty in Iraq during his 30 years in the U.S. military.

And his training shows.

Video surveillance from Saturday night captures the moment a would-be thief entered the Marionville, Mo., store where Alexander works. The thief hesitates for a moment and pulls a gun — but not fast enough to dissuade Alexander from pulling his own Walther PPX 9 mm handgun and sticking it in the hapless thief’s mouth.

No one was hurt and no shots were fired.

“One of the policemen told me later, ‘You’re a lucky man,’” Alexander told News-Leader.com Monday. “I said, ‘I think he (the robber) is a little luckier than I am.’ ”

Rest of the article from the Blaze here.

I love that Jon L. Alexander got his inner Paul Kersey on Charlie Bronson style here.  Didn’t even have to fire a shot either.  Robber picked the wrong store and is lucky he didn’t get killed for his troubles.  Reminds me of a joke.  “Why do you carry a gun? A young man asked an elderly lady.  “Because it’s alot lighter then a Police Officer.” the elderly lady answered.

I leave for one weekend….

and the whole city goes nuts.  Multiple stabbings, it rained cats and dogs, some asshat flees a home after his Pitbull mauls a Rat Terrier to death, and the Lowell Sun outs Rachel Chandler as an illegal chicken keeper.  That fact was known to many for a couple of weeks or longer depending on who you are and when your editor asked you to publish the story. (right Lyle?)  Messaged received loud and clear Lowell.  I’m not allowed to take any more long holiday weekends away, the residents sense a disruption in the force and everything goes to hell in a handbag made at one of the local art studios.  I get it.

I could have been Chris Lane

If the President “could have been Trayvon Martin” 35 years ago, I could have been and still could be Chris Lane.  I’m not from Australia, and I don’t play baseball.  But I am white and I do go for runs.  So do I have to worry about a bunch of thugs picking me out on a run to shoot “for fun” or for a gang initiation?  Or was this racially motivated?  It’s good I don’t live my life in fear like that.  Also good to know that the alleged “Rev.” Jesse Jackson “frowns upon” this type of violence though.  I know I’ll sleep better tonight knowing what he thinks.  No word on any “Justice for Chris” rallies either of the good Reverends Sharpton or Jackson will be planning this week though.

Which leads me to these final points for this blog- If one guy killing another guy in Florida is cause to examine our national conscience, what is this?  Or several of those per weekend in Chicago?  Moreover why isn’t the national media covering this like they did Trayvon Martin?  Where’s the Obama statement on this case?  Why isn’t Al Sharpton leading his nightly buffoonery on msnbc with this story?  Why does one murder  (set aside that Zimmerman was found not guilty for a moment) matter any more than the next?  Why does the media latch on to Kaylee Anthony, Trayvon Martin, or any other one more so than any of the over 500 kids that have been killed in Chicago alone this year?  By the way Guns are illegal there.  Someone should tell the criminals that.  The media in our country stinks on ice.

Wild Weekend in Lowell

(taken by Rob Mills over at Lowell Sun)

LOWELL — A fight between a few individuals quickly grew into a melee on Middlesex Street early Sunday morning that left a Dracut man dead from gunshot wounds and another man in critical condition with stab wounds.

That deadly fight was one of several violent incidents around the city Saturday night and Sunday, leaving one dead, another man shot, three men suffering from stab wounds, and at least two homes struck by gunfire.

A witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the fight broke out a little before 2 a.m., in front of the Crown nightclub at 74 Middlesex St.

“Several guys were hitting this one guy and then everyone came out and started fighting,” the witness said.

That man said he called 911 to report the fight, but he never heard or saw any gunshots fired as the fight moved down Middlesex Street toward the Lord Overpass.

Police soon arrived and found 25-year-old Keny Sien, of Dracut, suffering from gunshot wounds that would later claim his life.

Between this brawl that resulted in a shooting, someone on the loose in lower Centerville with a shotgun, and various other smaller incidents this was by far and away the busiest weekend crime wise all summer and perhaps the entire year.  You know what?  I still feel pretty safe, because on the whole in Lowell if you’re there to do good things and enjoy yourself responsibly you have plenty to do.  If you’re here to get in trouble you can do that too.  Lowell is what you make it.

Centraville is like Florida for Aging Henchmen

20130722-124614.jpgAt approximately 1:30 AM on July 20, 2013, the Lowell Police Emergency Dispatch Center received a call for a stabbing at 32 Beech St. in the Centralville section of the city. Upon arrival officers and emergency medical personnel discovered a “Six fingered” male adult with a weapon described as a sword still protruding from the victim. As medical personnel attended to the victim, officers began searching for the suspect, who was believed to be a relative of the victim. The NEMLEC SWAT Team and Lowell Officers conducted a search for the suspect in the home and determined the suspect was not present. Lowell Police Detectives continued to investigate and process the crime scene as patrol units searched the area for the suspect. Several firearms were located on the property believed to belong to the suspect. At approximately 5:55 AM this date, the suspect was observed back at the location of the assault, 32 Beech St. and was placed under arrest by Lowell Officers without further incident. The victim was med-flighted via helicopter to a Boston hospital where he remains at this time with what are not considered to be life threatening injuries.

How about that…the 6 fingered-man was hanging out in Centraville this whole time, on Beech Street no less. I’ve got to imagine it’s not a bad spot for castaway henchmen to feel right at home. It does kind of have that “pit of despair” feel to it, and reckless swordplay is generally accepted provided nobody calls the cops. I have to imagine Prince Humperdink like’s what lower Bridge Street has to offer in the form of princesses for pay, and not having to waste his time on prudes like Buttercup.
