Backtalk in Haiku. 7/16/14.

[please note: Day 4 on this gimmick. Who are the Backtalkers? The more time I spend translating them the more curious I become about them. What would they have been like in the world before newspapers set up a phoneline for the purpose of receiving anonymous calls for a messageboard collumn? At least most of this batch isn’t that bad. But again, no punchlines have been added. All I did was change the wording to fit the haiku form. I don’t know how serious any of these people are, so there is the possibility that this is satirizing satire or trolling. Probably not though. Visit the Sun’s page for original wording. http://www.lowellsun.com/opinion/ci_26137299/backtalk-7-16-2014 ]

Teach fire prevention.
Teach kids to change batteries.
Then kids teach parents.
-Dracut

Radio Shack boss.
Now running Market Basket.
After sinking Shack.
-Tewksbury

Tewks got new playgrounds.
Still charging kids who play sports.
Strikes me as unfair.
-Tewksbury

Teach kids about drugs.
Parents lead by example.
Treatment is costly.
-Tewksbury

Obama bad Pres.
Like Worst President Ever.
More people agree.
-Groton

Invade Mexico.
We have prisoners down there.
I saw a movie.
-Lowell

  1. I love this feature! I once made the mistake of listening to the audio of backtalk on the Sun’s website and I got the impression that a good number of callers were in their cups when they called.
